There were many times, when I was growing up that we hardly had food on the table. If it weren’t for Dad raising livestock and garden; we would not have had food. The only things we bought from the grocery was flour and sugar, salt and pepper. We raised chickens so we had eggs. We would pick , clean and put up fresh vegies and clean a chicken when we wanted to have one for supper.
We had beef and pork because dad would take them to market. Anything for a Dollar. Eventhough, we were not rich, we were rich in other ways. We grew up knowing the value of a dollar and we were in church each time the doors were open. These things never leave your mind. Oh! what great memories they are.
Maybe , we didin’t have what other kids had but we had it all. WE had a roof over our heads and food on the table.
